Reasons why industrial robots rarely use stepping motors

There are five main reasons why industrial robots rarely use stepping motors:
1. The stepping speed is low, the torque is small, and the rated load at the end cannot go up.
2. The stepping accuracy is low and it is easy to lose steps. Originally, the series structure of industrial robots has accumulated errors, and the absolute accuracy of stepping is lower, so low that most industrial fields can not meet the requirements.
3. Stepping speed is regulated by pulse frequency, with poor low-speed response and easy locked rotor.
4. Loud noise.
5. The stepping can not be closed-loop, and the position of each axis of the robot is not known. Zero position shall be marked every time when power is on.
However, stepper motor also has advantages and is cheap. If there is no need for reducer, the cost is lower. Therefore, it is very suitable for occasions with low requirements for accuracy, load and noise.
